Well here it begins, in Japan in 1996 the first phase of Pokemon cards were released and it's still going strong today. Pokemon is now known worldwide, with card sets being released in several languages. As well as the card game Pokemon has extended to computer games, soft toys and much more.

Base: 102 card set released in October 1996

Jungle: 48 card set released in March 1997

Fossil: 48 card set released in June 1997

Team Rocket: 65 card set released in November 1997

Gym 1: 96 card set released in October 1998

Gym 2: 98 card set released in June 1999
